Climate change threatens a catastrophe of almost unimaginable proportions but
it is already killing people now through a steady and unrelenting increase in so-called 'natural'
 disasters.

SOME PRESS CUTTINGS

Independant on Sunday, January 12th 2001

This small photo in the 'Indy on Sunday' was from our (Bush)'Inauguration Demo' : click here .

Newsweek, May 28th 2001

But a bigger colour version of this photo appeared some months later in Newsweek. We had provided a powerful image which was just waiting its time.....

The Sunday Business, May 6th 2001 This is Andrew Lockley in his Uncle Sam/Grim Reaper costume at our Kyoto Rally . This event also appeared on BBC 24, regional London news programmes, and most importantly on US TV (CBS news) one month later.

The Morning Star, June 4th 2001 From our Election Protest . This also made it onto Channel 4 news.

The Morning Star, July 30th 2001 From our "March against Bush" . Mike Cohen's photo on the Morning Star (this time the front page !)...meanwhile this event also made it onto Channel 4 news.

The Independent on Sunday, March 24th 2002 From our "Long March for the Climate". Andrew Lockley again.

CNN website, May 2002 . This was from a CCC expedition to Paris to join a French demo against Bush (then visiting France) : to make sure the demo included a clear message about climate change. Lucy Wills did the same kind of thing, with a striking costume & placard, at the May Day demos in London, making sure the climate message got into the media coverage of the event.

The Guardian, July 3rd 2002. From John Vidal's 'Eco-Soundings'. This was a quote from our leaflet for our "The US does'nt deserve to be Independant' demo , the next day, July 4th.

COVERAGE OF THE "BURNING PLANET" MARCH, November 18th 2003

The Guardian, page 1; November 19th 2003

Here are the references to our demo from the leading article on page one of the Guardian.

The Guardian, page 5; November 19th 2003

And in this article on page 5, more about our demo (relevant text shown enlarged below).

The Independent, page 2; November 19th 2003 : Below, enlarged, are the parts of the text that refer to our demo......

The Times, page 7; November 19th, 2003 .
This was one of the spectacular lanterns provided by 'Friends of the Earth'.

The caption reads

"Burning issue: protestors in London last night demonstrate against President Bush's failure to reduce greenhouse gases"

There was also extensive broadcast media coverage of this demo, includingon ABC TV in the US, interviews with CNN, on BBC TV Newsnight, on Channel 4 News etc..etc..

For photos and account of demo see here

BBB News Website, May 2004 This is from our action at the UK Film Premiere of "The Day After Tomorrow" (a climate change 'disaster movie') in Leicester Square. We added a political angle ! We also appeared on Sky TV etc... See more here

COVERAGE OF THE KYOTO CLIMATE MARCH, February 12th 2005

The Independent on Sunday, page 2; February 13th 2005
A picture from our demo appears with this article in the Indy on Sunday. The piccy features Auriel Glanville in her much-photoed 'Statue-of-Taking-Liberties' costume.

The Sunday Times, page 2; February 13th 2005
Another photo from our demo appears in the Sunday Times. The caption reads:

"Global Message: A protester marches on the American embassy in London yesterday to demand that George Bush signs up to the Kyoto protocol and cut greenhouse gas emissions. More than 350 people joined the march."

This estimate of numbers - which got around lots of the media - was, while literally correct(!), way off mark and something of an insult ! An estimate of 1,000 is more likely...some said more.. certainly at least twice the number quoted here. Just goes to show you can't believe everything you read in the papers !
