Bonn COP23 UN climate negotiations

This year the UN climate talks are taking place from 6-17 November in Bonn.

People's Climate Summit

The People's Climate Summit is 3-7 November. There will be events in the evenings Friday-Sunday, and workshops on Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th.

Klimademo

On 4th November there will be a family-friendly demonstration on the streets of Bonn calling for climate justice and an end to coal.

Ende Gelände

Then on 5th November there will be mass direct action at the opencast lignite coal mines not far from the negotiations. This follows on from two highly successful 'Ende Gelände' actions in May 2016 and August 2017, with thousands taking part.

Practical information:

  • Basic sleeping accommodation is being organised. It will be gyms and similar spaces and some individual hosts. There will be an online 'bed-exchange' that will hopefully go live in the coming days. Remember to bring warm bedding etc. if staying in one of the larger spaces!
  •  The first introduction to the event will be 5pm Friday, but there will be more training on Saturday.
  • People are of course welcome to go to the demonstration on Saturday but need to also make sure they are well prepared for Sunday's action.
  • If you don't want to risk arrest, there will be other ways to participate including the important support roles such ascooking, doing the info points, guarding the camp and doing arrestee support.

Climate justice demonstration

On 11th November there will be a demonstration for climate justice. (flyer)
